Our Process

Overview of Our Design Services

The process of creating your new space requires detailed planning and a thoughtful design process. Our highly experienced designers will work with you to create your Dream Kitchen & Bath.

First Appointment: At Our Showroom

We kindly ask that your spouse/partner is in attendance for this appointment.

The first step in every Dream Kitchens & More design project is to visit our Showroom. This visit is by appointment, so you receive our undivided attention. If you are ready to discuss your project in detail, a member of our design team will schedule approximately one hour to meet with you at no charge. During that visit you are invited to browse our showroom with a designer and view materials, styles, colors and fixtures from our numerous displays. Using our experience with similar projects, we will talk through a realistic budget. You will take home our “Dream Kitchen & Bath Planning Questionnaire.” This helps our design team begin the conceptual phase of the design process, which we will review during your home consultation.

Second Appointment: 1 Hour Home Visit

We kindly ask that your spouse/partner is in attendance for this appointment.

Design Initiation Fee – $250 due at this time. We dedicate 25-40 hours to project planning, sourcing and contract development before a formal contract and deposit are requested.

Once you have visited our Showroom, we will be happy to arrange a visit to your home.

A home visit allows us to get a sense of your space, home style, architecture and your personal style. If your space is part of a new construction project, we can visit the site or meet in our Showroom to review your plans. We spend approximately one hour at your home.

Third Appointment: Evaluation of Preliminary Design at Our Showroom

We kindly ask that your spouse/partner is in attendance for this appointment.

Your Dream Kitchens & More designer will evaluate your existing space, or review blueprints if the project is new construction, and create a preliminary design. During this meeting, we will present the design for your consideration AT OUR SHOWROOM on our 72” screen. This meeting gives you the opportunity to provide feedback, ask questions and suggest alterations to your design. At this phase, we present a comprehensive written  estimate that reflects all materials and labor required for your project. In preparation for your next appointment, we’ll request your appliance selections to ensure your design is finalized and materials are ordered seamlessly.

All plans are available for review in our Showroom only. Plans are released upon purchase.

If you require an additional appointment to make further revisions to your design or material selections before cabinetry is ordered and estimates/contracts are finalized, we require a $3,500, non-refundable retainer. This deposit will be fully deducted from the total cost of your cabinetry, as designed, if ordered within 30 days.

If you need a copy of your design and plans prior to ordering your cabinetry, we require a $3,500 non-refundable retainer. This deposit will be fully deducted from the total cost of your cabinetry, as designed, if ordered within 30 days.

4th Appointment: Final Drawings, Ordering of Cabinetry & Scheduling – Third Showroom Appointment

We incorporate your selection of appliances and electronics into your final design. Once a direction for the project is agreed   upon, the designer will incorporate your ideas into final drawings that include floor plans, elevations, mechanicals and a detailed cost estimate for the entire project. These drawings will be  used to finalize the design process and provide full specification details of your cabinetry, your appliance selections, colors and finishes of all materials. After your cabinet door style and colors are selected and you have signed your agreement for design services, purchase of materials, and labor contract, we will schedule your project for delivery within one week. You will have full access to your Design, 3D’s and list of cabinets. At this phase, a 75% deposit for cabinetry and a 10% labor deposit is required.  The remaining 25% balance for your cabinetry is due 5 days prior to your scheduled delivery

Labor Contract & Payment Schedule: A 10% deposit secures your project onto our schedule. Progress payments are then spaced throughout the build in stages, as your project moves forward. Your payment schedule will be clearly written in your Labor Contract and explained, so you understand when, how and why payments are made. This reflects industry’s best practices, Massachusetts state law and General Contractors Code of Ethics.

We will provide you with a Timeline Checklist for scheduling your next showroom appointment to choose your flooring, countertop, tile, sink, faucet, pendant lighting and hardware. (If a bathroom: tile, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, etc.).

5th Appointment: IN HOME PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING

Prior to your start date, we will have a Pre-Construction Meeting at your home. Our Production Manager will be present to discuss what needs to be done to prepare your space for the project. Feel free to prepare a list of your own questions or concerns.

6th Appointment: Complete Your Final Design Selections at our Showroom

You will schedule an appointment and meet with your designer at our showroom to select flooring, counters, tile, plumbing, pendent lighting & hardware. You will receive a finalized estimate of your selections within one week.

PROJECT WALK-THROUGH

We will schedule a walk-through to go over the completed project and to discuss any possible items remaining.
